They open and close to direct air from one point in the system to another. They can also hold an in-between state to manage air pressure, when equipped with a modulating actuator. These dampers act as the traffic lights of your HVAC system, ensuring airflow reaches the right zones in your building.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp> \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Where do you need them?\u003C\u002Fstrong> \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Everywhere. Commercial HVAC projects are large and complex, with ducts passing through every room. Control dampers will be the most common damper type in your HVAC system. Typically, that means the occupied areas of the room. If you have a waiting room in your building, then the vents in the ducts will point towards the seating area where people can feel it. \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>This is great for everyone in the path of the flow, but everyone else will have to wait for the room to get cool. You can mitigate this with diffusers.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Diffusers direct air from the duct to two or more points in the room. These specialized vents have adjustable blades, which owners can manually adjust to match the airflow needs of the room. The typical diffuser setup is an even split, so that air flows in two directions as it moves into the room. \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>A four-way diffuser uses overlapping adjustable blades, so that airflow can move four ways at once. This design helps distribute airflow evenly throughout the room, so that the room reaches the right temperature more easily.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp> \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Where do you need them?\u003C\u002Fstrong> \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Rooms where you expect high occupancy. Think of office space with cubicles for employees. It would be nice for each cubicle to get airflow, especially during the heat of the day. Adding a diffuser can spread the airflow to two or four cubicles at once, so that you can cut down on pressure loss. Operators can adjust each diffuser as conditions change, so that every cubicle receives air.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Diffusers also work for waiting rooms and other areas where people congregate. You may see them in retail shops, pointing air to each part of the store. \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Diffusers direct the system’s efforts to areas that need airflow, minimizing energy waste.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp> \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>Louvers - Protect External Ventilation Points\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>Your HVAC system will draw air through several ventilation points along the outside of your building. These are intake points of your HVAC system. There will also be spots along the wall for air to leave the building, the exhaust points. The rain doesn’t have to reach a fan to do damage:\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cul>\u003Cli data-list-item-id=\"ecbc4e79e4faa3ab8d62768cf2fc4b109\">Water damage at the intake point can leave mold growth, which will seriously impact your building’s indoor air quality.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli data-list-item-id=\"eef04fdc559ece62d456f21ebf18b2ba1\">Water damage can corrode ductwork near the opening, potentially causing it to unseat from the intake point.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli data-list-item-id=\"ea829aedbc20f0a500756b445f1089ebf\">Intake and exhaust points are often difficult to reach, which makes it difficult to address water damage in these areas.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Cp> \u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Where do you need them? \u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Intake points, exhaust points, or anywhere you want. The best way to handle water damage is to prevent it from happening. Install louvers at your ventilation points to keep them dry.
